The consolidation and dominance of IP networks, the emergence and exponential growth of social media platforms, and now the importance of ‘big data’, algorithms and the increasing impact of AI technology have smeared and squeezed the shape of the media and communications landscape profoundly. This shape-shifting, chaotic environment is echoed in one of the last paintings I completed before pressure of work and other interests led to me downing the brush for the time being. It has an informal title of ‘Emergence’ and I am sharing it to emphasize the importance I attach to owning change and valuing what might emerge.
